There are various generator’s for genres
that create a hot swappable genre and patterns that suit each genre. The first
generator generated a research paper on Boolean
Logic. There are many conventions that fits this generator for example, the
heading, table of contents, graphs, references, results, and the conclusion.
Just in one genre you find a lot of conventions that make up that specific type
of genre.
Meanwhile in a comic strip, there are many different factors
that makes it different from a research paper. The biggest difference that I
have noticed is there are pictures, either color/black and white. While colors
can convey emotions to the audience, I have realized that usually colorful
comic strips transmit a funny and happy vibe while a black and white comic
strip project a more serious environment to the audience. Most cartoons use non
computer like drawing cartoons, or just hand drawn and written. Comic strips
also use images and words to convey a certain theme or a message to get across
to the audience. The figures in many comic strips can be exaggerated and
audience can mostly tell the difference between which character they are
criticizing in the comic strip. Comics like political cartoons convey a
critical issue related to the government/power of a country. A major thing that
I also realized was that usually on a comic strip the author signs their name
in a corner, while a research paper has generally the same idea, they are not
used the same way.
Finally, a meme shares many of the same
conventions as a comic strip would. In a general meme, consists of usually an
idea that someone passes by onto a picture which can conclude… ideas, thoughts,
theories, songs, and habits. These conventions usually consists of people,
images, capital text, bold text, and humor. Most memes usually relate to
something or someone, what they do and why. From my observations, I noticed
that most memes consisted of colored pictures, each with some sort of text that
overlays the picture portraying a humorous atmosphere.
A convention of a speech
contains general parts that make up a speech. A speech starts off with an
introduction to what they are trying to portray to the audience listening in. This
also gets the audience’s attention and one of the most crucial parts of a
speech in my opinion. If you want a speech to be very intriguing, make sure
that your first words are very strong and interesting to the audience, you want
to be in their shoes and make the audience want to listen to what you say.
While writing the speech, find words that fit your speech and that they all
have a purpose to be in your speech. After the introduction comes to the middle
of the speech, while your past the introduction, you are still rambling onto
your topic, you should consider speaking about the main points of your topic
and to also persuade the audience of what you are talking about. The conclusion
sums up your speech, it wraps and places every block of what you referred of
your speech in place. It summarizes the ideas and makes a make theme/ idea. The
ending should be linked back to the opening theme that you gave from the start
of the speech.
My dearest Connor, your introduction to this blog post is great! As I looked through everyone else's PB1B's I did not see many other people, including myself, with introductions like this. It helps the reader understand what they're about to read and learn about ! Also, it was a great idea to post a hyper link to the websites of the examples that you used. One last thing, I see that you chose to use an example of speeches to analyze and list the conventions. That was a good choice for this assignment, I wish I had done that ! Bye bye for now :)
ReplyDeleteConnor, your thesis was very well said with breaking it down before even starting your blog. It helps the reader understand it better before they start reading. I thought the way you added the hyper link besides the pictures made it look much cleaner in my own way of seeing it. The way you gave the example at the end was very well said and I agree. Keep up the good work. Have a nice day.
